Are You Making Time for Yourself?

They wanted guitar lessons. They wanted to join the hockey team. They wanted to sign up for gymnastics or dance or wilderness survival.

So you signed them up. You want to encourage them to learn, to enrich themselves, to stay curious, to build skills and find something they love. Maybe even find their calling.

But what do you do for you? What do you want to sign up for that you haven’t? What new (or forgotten) hobby would you take up if you had the time? What books have you been meaning to read?

You know that you need to grow. We all do. You need to keep learning, keep enriching yourself, keep acquiring new skills. And the only way that’s going to be possible is if you clean out some of the stuff that’s taking up space, literally and figuratively—the overcommitment, the digital distractions, the endless to-do list, and those zombie obligations.

And how great would it feel to clear that path for yourself? To get rid of some of life’s clutter and to have some room and runway? If you could tackle what’s holding you back from doing what you’d really like to do, what’s preventing you from being the person you’re capable of being?

And what better time to do that than spring, when we’re supposed to be starting our spring cleaning?

Well, that’s what I’m going to be doing starting this Friday, with thousands of other parents all over the world, in the Daily Stoic Spring Forward Challenge. It’s 10 days of actionable, Stoic-inspired challenges to help you reset your life and refocus on what’s important to you.

No matter how your year started (and mine was crazy—my wife got sick, then my son got sick, then my other son got sick, and then I got sick, and then our dog had this whole thing and we had to take her to the vet), no matter what life has thrown at you, no matter how hopeless the world feels right now, spring is the time to do this—to refresh, to get back on track, to renew our motivation, and get after it.

Every morning for the next ten days, join me and thousands of other people—parents just like you—trying to be a little bit better, to clean out the stuff that’s getting in the way. I’d love to see you in there. You can sign up right now at dailystoic.com/spring. We’re going to be starting in TWO DAYS, so don’t miss this chance. Let’s get after it. Let’s go.
