How quickly it wears off, eh?
The lovely time with family. The reminders to be grateful. The simple pleasures.
How quickly this gives way to the frenzy of holiday shopping. Waiting in line for a deal at a department store. And now, on Cyber Monday, opening those emails and putting in those discount codes as you shop online.
We tell our kids to be grateful…and then show them that we think happiness comes from getting more stuff. That the ‘value’ that matters in life is what you get with your money.
More than 47 million people in America are food insecure, including 14 million children…and yet today alone, Americans will spend $14.2 billion dollars shopping online promotions.
It’s gross…and sad.
For the last six years, Daily Dad and Daily Stoic have decided not only to opt out of all this but to opt in to something that really is meaningful and really does matter. Instead of spending money on stuff we don’t need (and asking you to do the same), we try to get together and help people who are literally struggling to put food on the table.
Last year, the Daily Dad and Daily Stoic community came together with Feeding America to provide over 2.4 MILLION meals. Our overall goal this year is to raise $300,000 (and we put in the first $30,000). Every dollar we raise provides 10 meals, so if we hit our goal, that will be 3 MILLION meals.

You and your own family enjoyed a day of fullness. You have been blessed in so many ways. Let’s be a blessing. Let’s show our kids what that looks like. Let’s remember that they’re all our kids—that being a parent means caring about more than just your own flesh and blood.
We’re better than this. We can do better than this.
What if instead of trying to save some money we tried to save somebody? What if instead of just talking about this stuff to our kids, we showed them what doing good looked like? Let’s do it today!
