You want to make good time. You don’t want to be delayed. You don’t want to linger.
But why?
So you can get back home, only for them to ask about their iPads? So you can get back on your screen? So you can figure out the next activity, and the activity after that, until it’s time to put them down for bed?
You’re in the car together right now. You’re walking from here to there with them. You’re all waiting for the bags at the airport. You’re sitting next to each other, waiting on the waiter to bring the check.
These moments aren’t breaks between life. They are life.
Enjoy it! All time is quality time, as we’ve often said and need to remind ourselves. You don’t need it to wrap up. You don’t need to rush through it. Say to yourself: This is where we are, together. This is what we’re doing. I’m going to be here for it.
