They’re not being that loud. Or that obnoxious. They’re not listening any less than they usually do. They are not, despite what you think, trying to torture you. They’re being kids.
And you? You’re just tired.
That’s why your patience is exhausted. That is why you’re getting upset. That is why you’re choosing this battle. Because your decision-making ability has degraded. Because your resources have been depleted.
This isn’t on them. It’s not even about them.
It’s on you. (You didn’t have to stay up to scroll your phone last night).
It’s also not a problem you’re going to solve right now. You just have to get through this. You just have to let go of whatever the issue is right now. Come back to it tomorrow when you’re well-rested. (That is, if you prioritize getting some rest).
You’ll be better and, magically, so will they.
P.S. The ability to pause or take a break before reacting isn’t just good parenting advice. It’s something all great leaders practice. They don’t fly off the handle. They pause. They reflect. They choose their response.
Our Pause & Reflect Medallion was made for that moment. To help you choose wisdom over impulse.
