Remember What Success Looks Like

Success in life is not owning a vacation house. It’s not climbing to the top of your profession. Of course, it can be those thingsbut they look meaningless in comparison if your home life is a mess, if your home is unhappy.

The Bible puts forth a pretty good definition of an actual successful life:

“An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children are trustworthy and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.”

We can strip the gender out of this and it’s still true. Our job is to:

-Live an honorable life

-Treat our spouse well (and respect our marriage)

-Teach our children to be honest and reliable

-Refrain from spoiling them

If you can be successful or famous or respected at your chosen craft above all that? Fantastic. Just remember: no amount of worldly gains will matter—especially at the end of your life—if you have failed at being a parent.
