We know the world throws a lot at our kids. We know it’s noisy out there and there are competing influences. We know they’re pretty forgetful too. These are kids that can barely remember where their backpack is…how are we supposed to communicate the most essential and important truths of life? How do we get them to remember what we tell them?
By simplifying. By being straight forward. By repeating powerful and key ideas time and time again (with both words and actions).
“To be good and to do good, is all we have to do,” John Adams would say to his kids. This was also advice he would do his best to live by, and largely succeed.
Be good. Do good. That’s the moral imperative of life. That’s what we have to do as parents. That’s what we have to teach as parents.
Be good. Do good. Be good. Do Good.
